NBC 6 News Miami was signed first time on 21 March 1949 as a first television station in Florida. The founder of the station was the Wometco Enterprises in Miami. WTVJ initially affiliated with CBS. In 1950 it was affiliated with NAT film network. The station producing the CBS program Jackie Gleason show. It remains affiliated with CBS from 1949-1989. KKR purchased the WTVJ in 1984 for $1 billion after the death of Wometco founder. NBC took over it in September 1987 but do not end the affiliation with CBS until 1989. The station on aired the NFL Miami Dolphins from NBC network. First, the station was working on channel four then after collapsing with WCIX station, and it moves to Channel 6 on 10 September 1995. In 2009 WTVJ celebrated the 60th anniversary and highlighted the station history since 1949.It remains affiliated with CBS from 1949-1989.
