NBC4 News Washington DC (WRC-TV) has its origin to experimental television station W3XNB which on air by Radio corporation of America in 1939. This is the parent company of NBC. It received the license on June 27,1947 and signed as WNBW. Channel 4 was the second oldest television station in Washington. Channel 4 (WNBW now WRC-TV) was included in five television station of NBC owned and it is second among them in New York city. The station was operated with WRC radio. Its call signs were changed on 18 October 1954 into WRC-TV which is used recently. These call letters represent the NBC ownership by RCA. In 1955 it produce the puppet show for the station.The debate between Richard M.Nixon and John F.Kennedy was broadcast on 7 October 1960. Channel 4 was the station which fully owned the two station one WRC-TV and other is DuMont’s WTTG. WTTG was shut down in 1956. Its programs Meet the Press broadcast from NBC (WRC-TV) is the longest running program in U.S television history.

It carry all schedule of NBC network but it produced the NBC Nightly news one hour late at 7:00PM than other NBC-owned stations.
